Hawaii STANDARD TIME
Hawaiian Lava Boat Tours offers premium viewing access through our daily group adventure tours of the East Hawaii coastline where molten lava from the active Kilauea volcano is currently flowing into the sea. This tour is your ticket to the ultimate natural volcanic fireworks display! Kilauea volcano on the Big Island of Hawaii continues to be the worlds longest-flowing active volcano since its initial eruption in 1983, and the new flow has begun entering the ocean as of May 19th, 2018. Rivers of red hot lava flowing through steaming lava tubes and over expansive areas, lava waterfalls, pristine sandy beaches, lush tropical forests, and panoramic views of Mauna Loa are other unique aspects of this amazing island that can be viewed along the 30 mile stretch of coastal communities and primitive coastline during this tour.
Lava Tour Info:
The daily tours to the lava ocean entry take 3.5-4 hours roundtrip as transit to and from the lava ocean entry site takes about 90 minutes, and about 30 minutes are spent actively viewing the lava ocean entry-though trip times vary according to weather conditions. Sunrise and Sunset tour times are set at dawn and dusk to enable passengers to experience firsthand the magnificent glowing effect of the lava in the lower lighting. We have been granted permission by the US Coast Guard to operate tours within the parameter of the 300 meter Lava Safety Zone, and are currently able to get as close as 100 meters from the lava ocean entry. We further maintain all proper and current licensing, permits, and insurance. Our Native Hawaiian Captains are US Coast Guard certified, lifeguard, first aid, and CPR certified. We are proud to say that our small business has received a TripAdvisor Certificate of Excellence for 2017. Our friendly local tour guides are extremely knowledgeable about the area and eager to share East Hawai’i with you!
"OHANA" is a 36 ft. aluminum double-hull vessel with a 39 passenger capacity as permitted by the US Coast Guard. This vessel is used for our daily Sunrise and Sunset Tours.
